Starts 7.30pm – Running Time TBC

“Being an actor was never the plan, I just fell in love with the magic of the theatre.

I had to be around it and the rest just followed.”
    Sir Ian Mckellen

Ian McKellen, the greatest male Shakespearean actor of his generation and late-starting Hollywood star known to millions as Gandalf  from Lord of the Rings or Magneto in X-Men, is on the road

To mark his 80th year, Ian McKellen is touring that same number of venues across the country, both big and small. And McKellen treats the audience not as passive spectators but as one half of a double-act. Shakespeare, wizards and panto dames all play their part in an evening of autobiography that is also a love letter to the theatre.

Ian McKellen with Shakespeare, Tolkien, Others and Youis not just a one-man show, it’s something far more special. An evening or an audience with Ian McKellen would be a much more apt description, with over two hours of stories, excerpts and general conversation reminding us why he’s a one of a kind. The evening covers everything from his humble beginnings in Lancashire to his Shakespearean roles in theatre and success in Hollywood.

Directed by Sean Matthias, all profits from this tour and Ian McKellen’s entire fee will go to supporting theatre and theatre charities.

Stalls seats plus supper pre- or post-theatre in The Drawing Room, £90.
