Wine tasting with a twist and canapés
    Starts 7pm – Ends 9.30pm
    The Loft

Tom Surgey's Battle Of The Bottles returns to The Club. This time, he's been nominated for a big award and he's bringing his co-nominees with him. As ever, it promises to be a fun, little-bit-naughty, completely non-competitive wine tasting event where you, the audience, vote for the winner.

Tom will be joined by Tasmania's finest, the widely respected wine educator, Curly Haslam-Coates. Alongside them will be the the third nominee for the IWSC 'Outstanding Achievement in the Wine Industry' Award 2019, Sula Richardosn (Women in Wine).

Tom and Curly will compete in a wine battle structured over three rounds. For each round they have picked their favourite wines from The Club's wine list and will take turns trying to persuade you, the voting audience, that theirs is the better wine. The power is in your hands.

Generous paired canapés will be served to accompany the wines on each round. This event is suitable for members with any level of wine knowledge.

Curly Haslam-Coates has worked in the international drinks industry for more than two decades. Curly is the founder of Vintage Tasmania; a wine education business focused on effecting positive growth through a change in culture. They are the first and currently only provider of WSET courses in Tasmania.

Tom was a Head Waiter at The Club until 2014. He is now Director of Business Development at the respected English sparkling wine producer Ridgeview, as well as one of the Three Wine Menhosting events alongside Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin and Olly Smith. Tom hosts a monthly wine slot on BBC Sussex and is the lead presenter on new wine app Pingza.

This is a great opportunity for members and guests to taste and discover an interesting selection of wines from The Club's list.

Tickets cost £55, which includes the wine tasting and generous canapé pairings.
