  • THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON HUMANITYMONDAY, 8 ARPIL

    Panel discussion

    6.30pm for 7pm start – ends 8pm

    The Loft

Solomon Rogers, CEO and founder of award-winning immersive content studio REWIND, and broadcaster and founder of Your Big Day, Sir Martyn Lewis, will host an evening discussion around the impact of technology on humanity.

We are on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and it’s challenging our idea of what it means to be human. New technologies that combine the digital, physical and biological worlds are creating massive change at great speed. But are these forces of innovation or disruption?

Solomon's leadership of REWIND and his respected position within the immersive industry sees him regularly speaking at international events and being quoted in the media.  He is also a contributor to Forbes.com, Chairman of Immerse UK, the first nation-wide network for immersive companies, as well as Chairman of BAFTA's Immersive Entertainment Advisory Group. Prior to founding REWIND, Sol was a senior university lecturer for 15 years in digital animation, VFX and emerging technology.

Across three decades as a television journalist, Martyn anchored every mainstream national news programme on ITV & BBC TV, and works extensively in the voluntary sector. A recent chairman of NCVO and director of IPSO, he is currently Chairman of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. He recently founded YourBigDay Ltd, offering video “time-capsules” for every date and almost every year over the last century, drawn from the Reuters and ITN archives, and ordered and delivered online (yourbigday.tv). Martyn was awarded a CBE in 1997 and a knighthood in 2016 for services to the voluntary sector.

Solomon and Martyn will discuss the challenges and opportunities that these new technologies bring, from AI and blockchain to mixed reality and IOT.

This event is free to members and their guests.
